The Southwest Colorado Council of Governments region is home to a plethora of state and federal lands, including (but most definitely not limited to) the San Juan National Forest, Mesa Verde National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chimney Rock State Park, Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Weminuche Wilderness, Hovenweep National Monument, South San Juan Wilderness, and Lizardhead Wilderness. As a result the region has close connections and a wide variety of uses to our out of door spaces.
